I utterly adored this holiday romance.
It's Fake Dating, Friends to Lovers, with a Christmas Tree farm, strong friendships and supporting cast, swoonworthy romance and characters that feel so right together you're practically yelling at the page for them to boink already.
There's other stuff going on about struggling finances and a saboteur (all a bit scooby doo!) but honestly the only thing I cared about was Stella and Luka and their relationship.
They're best friends who are up in each other's personal space all the time and she is constantly Noticing him,. They've clearly been in love since the moment they met, they're handsy, they talk at a hours, but neither dares make the first move. Stella is an emotionally bottled-up wreck.
You can argue that it's not realistic that they hadn't got together before but you gradually realise they both have their reasons, and it just makes you beg for them to break the ice. Stella is such a mess of hangups and abandonment issues that she simply can't relax and trust in the relationship, but she never annoyed me.
It's delightfully slow burn, and then they give in and it's the most blisteringly satisfying thing. The level of slice was about right for me, plenty of description.of what they're doing and all the feelings and little noises, but not too explicit.
The ending is happy and poignant and I loved everything about it.
(I should say that the entire book is from Stella's pov, which is unusual in a romance book where I'm more used to alternating chapters.)
