I had a lot of mixed feelings about this book- there is certainly a lot of good information and the author tries to contextualize the bigger picture of what Plains Native Americans were going through, but the book is littered with racism towards native americans, calling them "primitive", "barbaric", "uncivilized" and many other things. While I think the book did a good job pointing out the very real atrocities committed by both sides, I fail to see how murder and rape makes on side "savage" and the other side "civilized".
