Wyndham is basically uninterested in internality or exploring (much of) the psychological impact of a mass forced impregnation. Except for a couple of asides, it barely comes up at all. He also keeps himself at sort of a remove from what happens, which makes it less effective as a horror novel. What is there is good, and Wyndham's breezy writing style keeps it quick.
