A very cute story between two top chess players.
The whole thing with Mel’s dad and family felt rushed and not well done. How her mom and sisters handled it and how she never talked to her young daughter about her dad’s cheating felt weird and rush.
Mel did have so much growth of character through the story and I was glad to see her gain in confidence and self love.
Nolan was an interesting character however he felt too 2D whereas the sisters were more 3D.
I did enjoy the chess plot however. It makes me want to read queens gambit.
