Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan

3.0

On a small, fictional island between Norway and Scotland you will find the town of Mure and an old, large mansion (known as The Rock) which has been converted into a posh hotel. Siblings Flora and Fintan are working toward a Christmas grand opening for the hotel, only Fintan is still grieving the death of the love of this life and is pretty useless!

The cast of characters is great and diverse; Isla, and island girl and kitchen helper; Konstanin, the son of a Norwegian duke who has been "banished" to the island to learn a few lessons about life the hard way and his is also a kitchen helper; Gaspard, a cigarette smoking, tattooed chef whose food is absolutely divine but he is extremely temperamental and moody; and several other employees and family members.

I have to admit, it was not one of my favorite books, but I did love the characters! The story line seemed inconsistent and choppy at times. I haven't read the other books in the series, but from what I have seen about them they are much better so I will be giving them a chance later on.
