Sapphire Battersea by Jacqueline Wilson

Hetty is very headstrong (god it sounds like I’m writing a school report!), she gives off similar vibes to Tracy Beaker if it were set years ago back in Victorian times. Same wild temper and same way of deciding they are doing their own thing no matter what. I liked that she still had her own mind and wasn’t afraid to stand up to people! There were definitely some unfortunate circumstances in the book but it goes to show that’s life and it’s not all perfect and happy

I liked the direction this book took and we get to see Hetty growing up and learning more about the world. If you liked her in the first book then she’s even better in this book, her character comes out more and we get to see how imaginative and funny she is alongside her temper! Definitely pick this one up if you’re looking to carry on the series as it is just as good as the first, if not better.

However, if you are looking at this series for the first time as an adult just take a few moments to get yourself in a more childish mindset as sometimes Hetty can be a bit annoying (as children can be) so just be prepared for that. Not a major issue but just something to be aware of
