No Judgments by Meg Cabot

4.0

“I wasn’t sure when, or if, my lady parts would ever be open again for business.”

Bree Beckham needed a restart on her life so she left her fast-paced life in Manhattan for Little Bridge-- her safe place-- in the Florida Keys. Even though she has been going there all her life with her parents, she has never actually lived here until now. But she’s determined to make a life for herself here. She’s even adopted a fat grey tabby named Gary to keep her company. Life on the island seems perfect, until a Category 5 hurricane forms and Little Bridge is directly in its path. Bombarded with calls from her mother and her ex-boyfriend to evacuate, Bree doubles down and refuses to leave--even if she is what the locals call “Fresh Water”.

Even though the storm is destructive, the people of Little Bridge make it through the night--although the bridge connecting the island to the rest of the world can’t say the same. When Bree learns that her landlord’s guinea pigs are stranded in the apartment, she and her boss’s nephew, Drew Hartwell, spring into action to save them. This starts Bree on a quest to take care of all the animals left when their owners were evacuating with a promise of no judgments. She and Drew work together to take care of the animals and sparks begin to fly. But Bree’s ex shows up, just when things are heating up between Drew and her. Will their bond be able to weather the storm?

No Judgments is obviously a romance novel, but it is also about family problems and acceptance of who you are. It shows that while biological family is important, blood isn’t the only thing that makes you you . I’m such a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers trope, and this was perfect! The sex scenes were great too, which is always a bonus! I think Bree is a really strong character dealing with real life issues, and they were handled in a very realistic way. I do wish we were able to see a reconciliation between Bree and her mom at the end, though. I’ll absolutely be reading the next book in the series! This series is perfect for fans of [a: Emma Hart|6451162|Emma Hart|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1478608576p2/6451162.jpg] and [a: Avery Flynn|4894804|Avery Flynn|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1570972322p2/4894804.jpg]!
