This book has so many different subjects piled into it. You have a story of a child growing up, parental abuse, race issues, murder and what it means to be educated. I wish that she had a slightly different death at the end, it was very sudden for the me. I know the book says it had been many year later, but to turn the next page and she is dead was not what I expected. I would have thought that we would have been with her when she had died. Because the reader is the only one who has been with her through everything.
I don’t know if I would read again, but I would definitely recommend!
