No Romeo
by L.P. Lovell, Stevie J. Cole
i have spent a couple days thinking about why this book fell flat for me when i was so excited for it and i finally figured it out. i didn’t like that hendrix was given a second chance romance book. throughout the series we see him as the wild, untamable man and i really hoped he would meet someone and have them rein him in during senior year!! i did like lola and i did like their story (hence the three stars) i just wish that he wasn’t supposedly heartbroken over her throughout the entirety of the other two books. i really thought he was just a man whore and wasn’t trying to forget lola. i know bellamy and drew were kind of the i become monogamous for you trope but for me it never gets old. it just didn’t seem fitting for hendrix to have the second chance romance trope. i still love him though. i also didn’t like lola’s reasoning for leaving him. it just seems unrealistic that she loved him so much but was willing to give him up for that long to “protect him”. they could’ve figured it out together. i don’t know if any of this makes sense, i just had really high expectations for this book and can’t help but feel a little let down with the direction it went in!
