So I got this as a Christmas gift, just to clarify why I didn't read The Travelling Cat Chronicles first. I had heard of it though so I'll read it eventually. This book is a collection of short stories centred around cats and their impact on our lives.

The last two stories are linked to The Travelling Cat Chronicles, so I was a little confused at the end. But they made me cry nonetheless! The way Arikawa writes from within the mind of a cat is very endearing. She knows them well.

There were a couple in the middle I didn't find too memorable, but they were all enjoyable to read. My favourite was the second story, Bringing Up Baby. A new mum comes home to find that her husband has taken in a stray kitten he named Spin. The writing for this one had a great sense of humour that was sometimes missing from the other stories. "Any way you looked at it, this was a miraculous creature - a winner of a Good Design award." Agreed.

Definitely recommend this if you liked The Travelling Cat Chronicles.
