Kitty and the Great Lantern Race by Paula Harrison

I'm putting this here as a sort of placeholder for the first 6 books bc I think I liked this one best. Maybe the sky garden one. Anyway, these are sweet books for younger readers, and I really enjoy the simplicity of them on days when I just can't focus on long books or something adult and grimdark or even just when I'm having a bad day. Kitty is a lovely character to follow, and her cat crew always makes me smile. I especially appreciate how she doesn't make snap judgments about people or situations - she always leads with kindness until she finds the cause of the problem. As someone who is often quick to anger, I really respect her compassion and willingness to see the good in everyone. It's a nice message for kids, and a good reminder for adults = ) the illustrations are beautiful and I really love a limited color palette! Except for the colorful covers, it's all oranges with shades of black white and gray. Love love. I very much recommend this series if you like this sort of quick, sweet read for kiddos.
