Ah the racism.

There are some words that are beyond the pale and the K word in South Africa is one of them.

I genuinely do not care about the integrity of the text in this case. These words should be removed. They were not just mildly racist. These were the words that helped justify some of the longest and worst atrocities in this country. So yeah. Edit it.

I actually liked the narrative structure and the interplay of the two narrators but the consistent reminders of how those of colour were 'lesser' just kept dragging back a history that is clearly not understood by the author or many of the readers. A judicious edit would dramatically improve this book for the average reader.
