Romantic Comedy
by Curtis Sittenfeld
Fun concept didn’t like the execution. While being an SNL writer is a cool idea and the breakdown of her days on the show in Part 1 add a unique structure, I didn’t find her funny. In fact I disliked her and didn’t care about him. The only interesting characters remained on the periphery. Would have loved to see more of Danny, and the girls Henrietta and Viv, even Jerry!
I think the use of emails in part two was annoying and a content dump.
And the use of COVID as a ploy to get them together immediately felt dated and unnecessary.
Overall: she was an insecure pick-me and he was a bland man with hair extensions. Sure I guess they can be in love.
