Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Ah where to begin with this book. I enjoyed it so much!! It’s a fun, romcom / contemporary romance novel with protagonists that are relatable af.

I felt as if Emily Henry was straight up describing me at times. A protagonist who would do anything for her little sister - check, someone who only uses her own pen – check, a type A kinda personality – check, has trouble sleeping at night – check, super driven & disciplined check.. I mean I could go on, but you get the gist.

Nora Stephens is one of a kind. Losing her mom early in life & being the sole guardian of her little sister has toughened her up in ways one can only imagine. Which is why her no bullshit meter is so high, she expects too much of life & herself to settle down with just anyone.
Though her lil sister, ‘Libby’ who is happily married & a mother of 2 seems to think otherwise. Whisking off her sister to a cute small town in hopes of making her see the magic of love, Libby and Nora arrive at Sunshine Falls, Carolina for a month.

While there, Nora bumps into one of her old nemeses ‘Charlie’ & you can right off see that their chemistry is so tangible, and you just know deep in your gut that they are meant to be together. Also, side note – the way Emily Henry writes men’s characters is just “chef’s kiss”.
Charlie is an editor at a publishing house & Nora is an agent for some of the best authors in the business. Sharing similar interests & passions, Nora and Charlie share a deep understanding of each other, though they both refuse to acknowledge it as first.

I’m also happy that Emily Henry has detoured away from the cliché of ‘opposites attract’ & has bravely stepped forward to share a story where the characters share trivial as well as deep similarities & work on overcoming their insecurities together.

The banter between Charlie & Nora was witty, funny & at times deeply sensual & I was 100 here for it!! I love characters that share the same intellectual wavelength & this is another reason why I felt as if Emily Henry was writing this story just for me.

There is a lot more to this book aside from being a love story & as to not give away any of spoilers, I’ll just say this – read this book if you enjoy a good rom-com with smart & funny characters.
