Creative historical fiction with a twist. Nods to Kindred. Slave states as " states of possibility" depict different realities for slaves, although none of these are optimal. Each stop/state on the Underground Railroad reminiscent of the different "districts" in the Hunger Games. Makes me want to read Dantes Devine Comedy and the circles of hell.
