Fredrik Backman has a way of stringing words together that manages to capture the most profound and vulnerable parts of being human. He tackles ideas such as identity, community, grief, parenthood, marriage, loyalty, and redemption (just to name a few). And he does it in ways that makes you feel validated and seen, while causing significant emotional damage (in the best ways).
The way he connects his words from one chapter to the next, from one character to the next is a mirror to the overall theme of the entire series: Interconnection. I think this is his true gift as a writer. The ways he shows how we are so intricately connected to those around us.
It’s difficult to put into words how brilliant I think Backman’s craft is. This is a 6 star series for me (and I don’t even like sports!)
