First Comes Scandal: A Bridgerton Prequel by Julia Quinn

2.0

I'm really sorry but this review thoroughly spoils what teeny-weeny bit of plot this book contains.

I was surprised to look down at my kindle progress and see that I was 68% of the way finished with the book, as at that point, NOTHING had happened yet in the book. Imagine my surprise that at 100% finished, still nothing had happened. This book had no plot. None. Zero. Georgie's reputation has taken a hit because she was briefly kidnapped by an enterprising suitor. Nicholas's father calls him home from Medical School to rectify the situation by marrying poor ruined Georgie himself. Surely, you say, this will lead to Plot Things! No. It doesn't. Around 60% of the way through the book, they're married. They then embark on a carriage ride from hell. Then, Georgie pouts because her husband has school to attend, and so she's BORED. And then the book is over.

This is the lowest score I've given a Julia Quinn novel, and it hurt my heart to do so, but, like, damn. This felt like a book that was written because she had two extra characters laying around, rather than a book that was written with any sort of passion or enjoyment.
