๐ง My thoughts
This book definitely had a good concept of reverse racism. The social commentaries were on point, and they made me think more about this topic.
However, I felt like something got lost in the process of transforming the book into a graphic novel. Perhaps in the original book, the social commentaries had a greater impact than this, because I felt that it lacked a punch. Some things didn't make sense to me as well. For example, Sephy didn't meet Callum for 2 years, but then agreed to meet him to get kidnapped. While being kept hostage, she still trusted him enough to sleep with him? . The ending felt so rushed that I felt like the pacing got weird toward the end.
๐ What I like
- Interesting concept
- Social commentaries are on point
๐ What I donโt like
- The execution is off sometimes
- Lacks a punch
