Olive, Again by Elizabeth Strout

4.0

I didn't realize this book was a sequel at first. I do feel bad that I didn't read the first one, but this was good on its own. I really enjoyed it. Also, I think it was intended for a much older audience, but I learned a lot from it. It's a book about life and, consequently, death. It's about growing old and how you and others change as you do so, especially how relationships change. It's a little "slice of life" novel I think. I thought it was funny because the characters sounded so British in my head a lot of the time. I could picture it as a little British drama miniseries, even though it was set in a small town in Maine. Olive was such a good character, and I liked her a lot. I really couldn't understand why so many people didn't like her. The only thing I didn't like so much was the timeline of the book.; I thought it was confusing because it skipped around a bit. Besides that, lovely book. I have it a lot of times where I read a book at exactly the right time, and this was true with this one. I thought a lot about my great grandma, especially towards the end. It also gave me a new perspective on how to live and how life goes sometimes. This book is a lot about the mystery of getting older.
