The Cold Vanish: Seeking the Missing in North America's Wildlands by Jon Billman

adventurous challenging dark

2.0

I ended up skimming to the end of this book. I found the writing style very clunky and the whole book needed editing. Hopping back and forth between different missing person stories made it hard to track who was who. There was one line that was the straw that broke the camel's back. The author said that Jacob Gray's mother was still able to laugh and smile and that even if the national park was where Jacob's life ended, she was proud he had chosen such a beautiful spot. I was rolling my eyes at that.

The tie in to the Sasquatch believers was annoying at best and sprinkled haphazardly throughout the book. I was expecting a more thoroughly researched book and then to find out that the book was not well received by Jacob Gray's circle just confirmed my doubts about the book.
