My Government Means to Kill Me by Rasheed Newson

5.0

I loved this book! The main character Trey is so lovable and bright, and you want to hear everything he has to say. I loved how it was set up as a diary-style reflection looking back on his youth. I also enjoyed the plot and “watching” Trey grow up and into a young activist. Newson managed to bring levity and life to the topics of oppression and death without robbing them of completely of gravity or darkness.
