I never thought that I would be a monster/paranormal romance girly. But then you get amazing writers like Lily Mayne, Nik Knight and Fae Quin and you just have to accept a new unlocked part of yourself.

So, join me in exploring a new world. Settle yourself in your reading nest and read: 'I'm not your pet' by Fae Quin.

"I gotta be honest, when I was accepted into Harvard at the end of my senior year of high school, I never once expected it. I'd end up here, a Galaxy far away, contemplating sucking squishy pink alien dick."

Wow. What an opening line.
I was content-warned about sexual slavery and space strip clubs. A bit startling to get exactly what I was promised. (Don't worry, this is a happy read!)

Roark is a captain on a spaceship.  He encounters this peach coloured creature that looks lonely. This creature, a huu-man, is very interesting. Like how curious that he leakes when he is sad. Roark can't leave him there, and even though purchasing a person is abhorrent, he buys him to free him.
Back on the ship, things are not going smoothly.

-"Yew muhthehrfuhker," he hissed out stomping around the room, his tiny body stiff. I could not for the life of me understand what he was upset about. I have done everything the "How to care for an Earthling" pamphlet had told me to do today. He was fed, watered, clothed. I've been gentle with him. Fed him treats petted him. What else could he possibly need?-

Uhm, it turns out that Hugo doesn't want to be treated like a pet. Whoops.

Reading this book was sweet and joyful. I felt the wonder and joy of the characters like it was my own.
Roark and Hugo are sweet, resilient and strong. The way they find each other, makes this a top comfort book for me.
I know I keep saying it is sweet, but never too sweet nor does it stay surface level. The pacing worked perfectly for me. The plot is excellent. Character growth,  yes! It is delightful read!

It came out yesterday! So get your claws, talons or hands on it and enjoy!
