The Survivors by Jane Harper

5.0

Read in one day! This book was a great mystery that had small town secrets and tense family drama all woven together. I enjoyed how Kieran was a great father and boyfriend to Mia, and how that was constant in the book.
The book tackled the issues of blame, grief, and guilt head on. When you deal with those things, that’s when your true self comes out.
One hole I found in the plot is after Mia says, “Don’t leave me alone with your father again”, the very next day she is left alone again with him while Kieran and his mother go diving. Nothing is mentioned about it and that story line was never brought up again.
All in all, I enjoyed this book! This was my first of Harper’s books, but I can see myself picking another one of hers up very soon!
