Matrix by Lauren Groff

One of my few DNFs this year. Perhaps it was my expectations going into this book, wanting to learn about the comings and goings of a woman conceived in rape and thus sent to a nunnery during the plague. And yes, there was a bit of that (hence the two **). Mostly, though, the narration was snarky, sarcastic, and condescending, and I found myself thoroughly annoyed with the main character rather than feeling sympathy for her plight. What a shame, for the premise sounded so interesting. But I could simply not stomach more of her temper tantrums that matched her equally entitled, spoiled attitude, not to mention the author's antagonist tone throughout.
