My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows
5.0

“I know I'm not inspiring much confidence at this point, but there's something else I thought I'd bring up.” She lifted her eyes to him. “I love you more than I love books.”

This might just be my current favorite book. Like, I'm about to tell everyone to GO. READ. THIS. BOOK. Now, I'll admit it's not for everyone, but it was the book for me.

1. I loved ALL the main characters. Scratch that, ALL THE CHARACTERS. I loved to love the main ones and I loved to dislike the protagonists. Jane is strong-willed, almost to a fault, and doesn't really know how to express her feelings, but she is an extremely passionate person and I ADORED her. Also the best bookworm ever! Edward is an extremely charming bigot who grows a ton during this book. G... Oh G! I loved G and Gracie and Granny and Bes.

2. I'm a history buff. And sure, this is inaccurate history book, but it's almost better that way. It has all the quirks of historical fiction, but it's not gaudy or boring or bleh. All of the things that happened in the book were still believable for the time period it is set in... Minus the magic, but that's another reason I like the book.

3. I loved the added touch of magic. I don't think it was the MAIN focus of the book, so it was nice. It moved the story along, made the story a tad more interesting and controversial, and it gave the story an undertone that makes you think a lot about the race topic of today.

4. This book is FUNNY. There is no other way to put it. The narrators are funny, some of the character interactions are down right hilarious and all of the horse jokes! I about died laughing while I listened to the audiobook.

Bottomline, just read this book. Go into it with an open heart and be prepared for a light-hearted, comedy. You will not be disappointed.
