i understand the subversiveness of boys’ flat voyeurism of the lisbon daughters are meant to be a view of the patriarchal structures that invade middle america and the shallowness of how men view women in general but, despite eugenides’ frankly beautiful prose, i don’t think a man can correctly do this without fully offending women as a whole lmao. though, it was interesting enough so yeah there’s my rating
