The first part of the book, told from the perspective of an Israeli soldier, is so disturbing in a succinct, cold, unfeeling manner. The horror is so unnerving that I’m glad when we skip forward many years later. But then the suspense and fear begin anew, from the perspective of a Palestinian woman trying to unravel the mystery of the Palestinian girl that was kidnapped, raped, and murdered in the first half of the book. The horrors of occupation and genocide are reflected in every minor detail of this story.

Palestine must be free and the state of Israel must be held accountable for their war crimes.
