This was a drag.
I can see that Stephanie loves to lead her readers on with as few clues as possible and make a grand reveal of a bunch of plot twists at the end. And the need for answers made this book vexing. The plot reveals were not even that surprising.
Dante and tellas dynamic was fun to read- way more fun than Julian/Scarlett’s.
The plot was more or less the same. At least this one had some world building.
As always, I feel like the Caraval (the game) has a lot of potential but the author couldn’t quite capture it. Both the books felt like a bit of a let down. It doesn’t even match the hype of the descriptions made by the characters in the book lmao.
