This book takes you through the incredible journey of Marcus Luttrell, starting when he's going through BUD/S training and the crazy thing that is hell week, all the way until he is rescued from the Afghan mountains after 3 of his buddies were killed. A large portion of the book is dedicated to the intense training SEALs do prior to deployment, which is fascinating to me. The actual "meat and potatoes" of the book is the account of Luttrell and his team as they embark on a mission to capture or kill a highly sought after Taliban leader. The stuff he talks about (falling 2 football fields down a near vertical rocky mountain, for example) just opens your eyes to the commitments and pure "no quit" attitude our military takes on each and every day fighting for our freedom.
