A ripoff, sorry I meant retelling, of The Gift of the Magi. Just like the author's other works, she simply switches things up a little, adds a twist and changes the ending but doesn't credit the original story anywhere in the synopsis or book.
It's a shame as I did like the story and twist. The enjoyment was there even though the technical quality could be better, so I would have rated at least 3 stars if the original tale had been credited somewhere.
Maybe in future I will just do slight rewrites of fairytales and call them my own and make a career out of it. I promise not to be defensive when called out.
