The Milk Lady of Bangalore: An Unexpected Adventure by Shoba Narayan

3.0

Well, I learned a lot more than I thought I would about cows. Which is a good thing. I've always liked cows, and now I have more respect for them. But it was a little too much about cows. I don't really feel like I got to know the author behind this book. Yes, this was about Sarala, the milk lady. But you would see glimpses of the author's thoughts and feelings herself, especially after an untimely death. There are also a lot of things just kind of thrown out there--drinking cow urine, for one--that it seems are just for shock value more than adding to the story, in a way. It was also kind of all over the place. Largely interesting and enjoyable, to be sure, but just a little too scattered.
