This one was really not for me. There are a lot of things that gave me a bit of an ick while reading in the first half. The second half was better but at that point, I wasn't invested in any characters or "plot". This is mostly spice with less that 1/4 teaspoon of plot - the plot being a very very loose retelling of the hunchback of Notre dam. We spend most of the book in the same location and it felt like there wasn't much happening besides horny town (which get it girl).
I was excited to read this as well but came away disappointed. I did like the message of freedom from oppressive religious ideologies. Also this was published in 2022, set in a dystopian world where Roe V Wade was abolished and the social consequences from that, and honestly that part was feeling too real.
It's a very dark romance with why choose, lots of spice, but absolutely check triggers before going in. Overall, pretty disappointed in this and it wasn't the book for me.
What will live rent free in my brain from this book (Spoilers):
That Frollo chapter where he *took care* of himself to the thoughts of his daughter loosing her purity to these guys. I think I might be scarred from that, personally.
