The Bewitching of Aveline Jones by Phil Hickes

5.0

The second installment of the Aveline Jones series!

I loved the first book so much I HAD to get the second installment.

Aveline is on holiday in Norton Wick, where she finds some odd looking stones... the witches stones. On her journey she comes across a girl called Hazel. Hazel is a strange girl and disappears whenever she feels like it. She also shows Aveline some "magic" at the witches stones... but for some strange reason she won't set foot in Avelines garden at the cottage she is staying in.

Aveline's friend Harold and his great uncle and Aveline's aunt come and visit. Harold brings Aveline some books from his great uncles bookstore that Aveline asked for, he brings books about Norton Wick and Witch Stones.

Aveline finds out that Hazel I'd a witch who died in the Witch trials in the 1600s along with her older sister Alice. Alice warns Aveline about Hazel and how she isn't the nicest of people.

Hazel wants Aveline to stay with her in Norton Wick, Aveline declines the offer and Hazel is furious. Furious enough to use magic to try and convince Aveline that her family and friends don't want her around, nobody cares about her and to all round try and atop her from leaving.

With the help if Alice, Aveline and Harold make a witch bottle, (wherever the bottle is buried, a witch can not enter). Aveline uses magic herself that she seen Hazel do earlier at the witches stones to get safely away from Hazel and get back home in one piece.

I really enjoyed this book, its a great story and I can't wait for the third installment!
