This was a fine and good enough book.
There was a humorous undertone throughout all of the dialogues which honestly were not only the best part of this book but it also definitely helped while reading and the general fun & enjoyment of the story. Anything more serious would probably made this book more of a dragged experience. At least for me.
I really liked the concept and exploration of Nightmares and monsters!
The author described Newham as a "Gotham-inspired city that is comedically chaotic" which I can agree with! (At least if I compare it to the Gotham of the CW show).
There isn't really an actual goal or plot up until the second half starts, which makes it kinda hard to see where the story is going before that.
Unfortunately, I couldn't really care for main girly Ness. The whole book is written from her perspective and if you find her annoying or not likeable, this might end up as an issue.
Cy was a cuuuutie though and Priya is just a 10/10 character.
If you liked Susan Dennard's The Luminaries, you will probably like this too!
