This is very hard to rate. Is it better than the first book? Yes. Does it differ from the TV show? Yes, which i like. There is more depth and plot compared with the netflix show, the show actually cut alot out by combing what I believe is book 2, 3, and six of crows.
I liked this a lot more than the first and am starting to see Alina's character deepen and darken which was great. However this is not a 4 star read for me, it dragged in placed, spoke of royal politics and like most reviews Nikolai stole the show. This is like a 3.5 stars over all. The last 50 pages are great however at that point is it really worth it. I enjoyed some moments but was there tonnes of filler...yes.
I am intrigued to continue and am not disheartened. It was a good read but not a great one.
