The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

4.0

My 100th book of the year and I thought it would be fitting to complete my challenge this year with an author I immensely admire and whose mysteries I've grown up reading. Surprisingly, I hadn't read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd until now.

Hercule Poirot is my favourite Agatha Christie character. This small, amusing man is such a delight to encounter. His eccentric mannerisms make him a fantastic persona to read. This is one of Christie's best murder mysteries. Although if you have read enough of her, you will find it a bit easy to guess but way towards the end. Like Sherlock Holmes, Poirot's mysteries are also dead simple but you never realize this until the end moment.

The structure of the book is really good, the characters are also suspicious and everyone has a motive. Along the way, a few small mysteries also come to light. A brilliant comfort read you wouldn't want to miss!
