Felt very pick me vibes from the author. As she said herself, there were no stakes with this project because she wasn’t really pregnant. Even after her experience, did not see any genuine empathy to students who are actually pregnant from how she wrote this book. Felt her general advice was not very helpful (ie “if you’re an alcoholic, just don’t drink”). Also did not appreciate her description of Planned Parenthood, since she focused entirely on it being a place where abortions happen, when in reality people go to Planned Parenthood for a variety of healthcare needs and could have used that consultation as a way to learn more about the organization and what they do. She also completely dismissed the medical reasons for abortion or even that women who make the choice to do so do not make that decision lightheartedly. Overall, this study was not well done and don’t see how this helps teenagers who are actually pregnant who are the ones who are actually experiencing what she claimed to have experienced and have the make difficult decisions that will actually affect their lives.
