The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Elizabeth O'Roark
4.0
I think there is something really beautiful about reading a book where someone falls in love with a character who has all the same fears and self hatred as you do. Connecting to women characters in the silly romance books I read is what gets me through life. And the most important aspect of this is watching Drew learn to forgive herself for things that were out of her control, but also forgive herself for her own mistakes, and to learn how to heal the inner child who just wished they were taken care of. In my head, her and josh are real people and he gives her the love she’s always deserved and everyday she is learning more that she isn’t this hated mess but a person who was in pain because this world… is shitty sometimes!!!!
And also the book is just so hot. The angst is crazy. Had to put the book down a few times to take a deep breath. Loved it <3
