The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman

4.0

I wish I could remember how or who recommended this book to my to-read list. It really is my favorite kind of book and I will read more in the series. The story is about Patience, a midwife residing in West Virginia, who lives alone and has a "checkered" past in which she was an advocate for social justice issues. Living in West Virginia during the 1930s as a single woman alone, affords her the opportunity to be ridiculed as she struggles financially while helping those in need. I kind of wonder how or what I may have done if I lived during that time period. Thanks for all of the great history intertwined with an captivating plot.
