“The fates do not make mistakes.”

All Shivaria has known since being plucked from a smoldering building as a child is how to fight. Her survival relies on it. Raised to be an elite assassin, the time has come to put her skills to the test when she receives her mission: kill the Feyn King. As she’s thrust into an unfamiliar realm, she must rely on herself to do whatever necessary to infiltrate the palace.

I cannot believe this is a debut novel! It’s so great. The world building is incredibly vivid. JR Cathers does a spectacular job of showing instead of telling what’s going on, which I absolutely love in a fantasy series. The storytelling alone pulls you in immediately. On top of that, we have the plot: captivating, rich, complex in all the right ways. But the slow burn romance really takes the cake. I loved (and loved to hate) the characters! I also really enjoyed putting all the pieces together and theorizing about what’s going to happen next. Now starts the wait for the next book in the series!

I was lucky to be selected as an ARC reader for Child of Shivay and really enjoyed it. Run, don’t walk, to get your copy on October 16th! I can truly see this one becoming one of the next big ones. Eeek, I can’t wait for y’all to read it!
