I read this book at a really difficult moment in my life and it successfully distracted me from my real-life issues. I was entrained, thrilled, and shocked the whole time. I also loved to read about the New York art scene during this time period. Obviously, this is a French book translated to English so it isn't on my people's radar. The translation is not the best but it does the job and I didn't find that it took me out of the story or the experience.
