The Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton
5.0

After struggling my way through two 2-star books in a row, I was in need of something I knew I would really enjoy, or even love. Good thing I had The Clockmaker's Daughter waiting for me on my bookshelves! It had been there for some months, but I was waiting for the right time to dive into another Kate Morton story.

I think the timing (holiday, sunny days, sitting outside with a drink, nothing to do except read) was perfect and that this is one of the reasons for the 5 stars. I can imagine it might have been 4 or 4.5 if I had read this another time and had been in a more critical mood, but right now, this was just exactly what I needed. I loved the characters, the writing, the different timelines, the mystery, the reveals during the book, how everything fits together. I found it hard to put down, couldn't wait to pick it up again, and have forsaken several chores I planned to do this week. All of that reflects a 5-star book in my opinion.
