I absolutely loved Beasts, so when I saw her release this new book I was so excited to read it. It definitely did not disappoint! In classic Ruth Emmie Lang fashion, the story takes the reader on a road-trip journey and gives these evocative snapshots of different lives and people. The author's writing is atmospheric, using strong imagery and metaphors. Loved all the diverse characters and magical realism. Now, did I love it more that Beasts? Probably not to be honest. It's a solid story but the ending was a little weak for me and left me with a couple of unresolved questions.
