Unbreak Me

Unbreak Me by Reese Rivers
2/5
Finished: 4/18/25
TLDR:
This book wasn't bad, but it didn't pull me in like so many others have.
The Plot Quickens:
Fleeing an abusive marriage, Avery and her young daughter, Chloe, find refuge with three ex-military men and their loyal dog. As they navigate healing and newfound connections, the group forms an unconventional family bound by trust, protection, and love.
Overall Thoughts:
I am always up for a Reverse Harem romance, which is what drew me to this book. However, I probably would not have picked it up if it didn't have that trope; the plot was interesting enough, but didn't feel fully fleshed out, and the time skips to show progress were a bit jarring as the reader. While I did like that Avery took her time getting to know the men before becoming intimate with them, which tracks as a previously abused woman, it did not seem realistic that she would move into a house with three strangers because they demanded her to, and she never once tried to run.
Highlights:
I enjoyed the slow build to the spice, which felt true to Avery's character arc. The men were all so sweet to her, which I loved.
Low Points:
I didn't like that she was forced to start working for them because it was too similar to her ex forcing her into things. I was hoping that since she had been searching for cleaning jobs, she could have been hired organically and met the men that way.
