The Atlas Complex by Olivie Blake

3.0

My thoughts on this book and therefore the trilogy as a whole are vastly complicated. The Atlas Six is a book I consider a favorite because it gives you this incredible story of six people with their relationships as the premise with the backdrop being this wonderful world of magic; this drive to learn more about the world and oneself through and WITH others - the philosophical nature of these books was a hook just as much as the characters were.

It all falls flat with this last book, however. We're too deeply entrenched in the relationships that the arguments are cyclical and while I understand that 'the plot' was the least important thing in this series, it felt woefully disappointing that nothing really happened. The relationships came together, exploded and then broke apart and I'm left feeling like I don't give a shit..

I'm left feeling like the collateral damage caused by these six people was not worth the effort of having to slough through this book. There are so many individual pieces in this book, in this series as a whole, that I hold dear to my heart - questions asked that are so important to think about if not for the sake of bettering humanity, but for the sheer curiosity, but man I am left disappointed in the execution.

My love for unreliable narrators, magical worlds that hold a ton of potential and characters I'd both want to punch in the face and also kiss does not save this book for me.
