My fave of her series books to date. I do have to read all her CID books in order now (just waiting for delivery) as I am officially invested in Waterhouse and Zailer.
This book was so beautiful and almost gentle. I have finished this over a month ago and I’m still haunted by the sentence “Kind. Cruel. Kind of Cruel.”
The pacing was amazing. I usually take a few chapters to warm to Sophie’s stories, but in this one I was engaged from the first sentence. All the characters were so well drawn, and I was emotionally invested in the main character and her family.
I could picture some of the locations in the book and felt the book was consistent and gripping. The end got me shook and I was emotionally there and charged!
