elliebreen 's review for:
House of Leaves
by Mark Z. Danielewski
Very short review for an extremely long, challenging and complex novel. This review should be pages and pages long, but all I’ll say is that I respect what Mark is trying to achieve / it’s very intelligent and poignant / but very difficult to get into. Only started picking up on page 384. Enjoyed the letters from P the most. Don’t read if wanting a light and easy read before bed, these 600+ pages will have you turning the book every which way and shouting when you can’t find the footnote because it’s about 5 pages along from where it should be. Get lost in the book, film, satirical academic essay, poems, letters, and references of this narrative colossus.
