Overall, I enjoyed the book.
However, as the book is rather short, the pacing is rather fast and feels somewhat inconsistent at times, with the development of love between Isobel and Rook being told rather than shown. While I think the story and their relationship is quite cute, I still don't quite know why/how/when they fell in love, especially Isobel who flip flops between loving him and then telling herself she doesn't only to be into him moments after again?
Also, I feel like she should've been older, at least around 20. Not because of the age gap (better don't read it if you don't like age gaps, not even with mythical beings) but because her being the "master painter" with 16 feels somewhat hard to believe.
Then again, the book's main audience is probably teenagers around 12-16 so it does fit in the narrative.
Most of the side characters are not really developed which makes their actions and reasonings hard to follow, though at least they're not entirely unlikeable.
