Tough Luck Hero by Maisey Yates
5.0
OH, WOW! I thought One Night Charmer, the previous book in the Copper Ridge series, was good and it is. Really good but, sorry, it doesn't hold a candle to the sparks and banter Lydia and Colton make.
I through-fully enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It's not only one of the most hilarious romance novels I have ever read, it also has a smart plot and crazy charismatic characters. When I finished the previos book, I was incredibly curious about Colton's destiny? Did he end up marrying Natalie the Harpy? Or did he find a way out of her? His family? All the expectations crushing down on him?
Well, Tough Luck Hero answers all these questions and much more. It's amazing to me how much Colton changes through the story and all the realizations he makes for himself and the people he loves. His strong sense of family and responsibility are there, they will always be there, but I was happy to see him stand up for himself and his own happiness. Sometimes what you want, it's not what you need. And what you need, it's not really what you want. Never more exemplary with Colton, who had to let everything go in order to figure out himself and what he really needed and wanted out of his life. Colton is also one of the most hot and endearing leading man ever. It's so hard to not fall in love with him.
Lydia's storyline and personal issues were very surprising. Mostly because through the previous four books in the series she never gave away anything of the things we learn about her in this book. She always came across as a very efficient, coolheaded and well-adjusted young woman. I guess that's kind of the point here, that is actually a façade to not deal with the strong emotions running deep. And Lydia has a lot of unresolved feelings going on. Her relationship with Colton helps her let go too, finally allowing herself to feel something. Bad. Good. Anything. Everything.
The relationship between Colton and Lydia is incredible. The way they push each other buttons, the hilarious banter, the sexy times and the way their minds work is just top-notch character writing. What I loved the most is how they challenged each other to be better, the companionship and the fun they have together.
This book is definitely going to my all time favorite romance novels, along the side of Jill Shalvis's One in a Million and Sarah Morgan's Christmas Ever After. AND into my best books read in 2016. A must read.
