I really enjoyed this book, it was the first one I read in a while that made me loose focus on my work to see what happens next. It has some fun fight scenes and what it does with its second story line tricked me completely.
I will admit it does lean into the and cruelty of the villains a little so
be aware. But personally, I felt that just made the bad guys worse and all the better when they go down. Sometimes it is nice to see a monster just be a monster like the Baba Yaga coming to eat you instead of help you.
All and all a short story that meditates on the world outsiders must live in and tells the tale of two women who find love while surviving the worst of the world
